Killian Mangan

About me

Originally from Ireland, I moved Glasgow in Scotland to study Computer Games (Software Development), before deciding to focus my studies instead on Design. I am here at CITM for 1 year on Erasmus.

I specialise in game design (experience with Unity, Unreal, and a custom game engine) but have also worked on programming (have learned C#, and some C++, Java, Python, and Wren), art creation (highly proficient with Paint.net - similar to Photoshop - and digital drawing experience using a Wacom drawing tablet with Sketchbook), modelling (skilled at 3dsMaxx), audio (Audacity and FL Studios), narrative (high standard of writing in English with experience in game narrative, plus ability to write in Spanish and Irish), and animations (using Maya).

Timeless: My First Game

Story-driven first-person short story about life and death. Working on a VR remake in my free time this Summer.

My Work

The original design for level 1 was based on the idea of a linear layout with 2 potential lanes. I created it with a paper prototype and got to work building the initial whitebox in Unity

I worked with Josep Pi to create the corridor vertical slice in-engine based on the first part of our level 1 design.

Finally, I worked with the other designers as we created the final version!

While Josep Pi was the mastermind behind the design of Level 2, I helped him later on as he began to work on audio also.

My main work on the level was to alter the layout when we removed the boss Mazapan from the game, and added props.

I recreated the design for Level 3 to better fit the game and built a whitebox. Below is a comparison to the original version and my update.

I also worked on early implementations of Vuelto's Lab

I made alternative designs for the logo, and made mockup for HUD and Upgrade Menu.

I made a mockup for Main Menu and edited/imported assets and created body piles
